Babe Rainbow - Endless Path EP

Endless Path EP by Babe Rainbow

4...according to our on Thu 16 Jun, 2011.

Babe Rainbow is the work of writer/producer Cameron Reed and this is his second EP for Warp following last year's distinctly wobble inducing post-dubstep affair 'Shaved'. Well things seem to be moving on nicely for Babe Rainbow as his skills have captured the attention of various artists and producers including MF Doom, Odd Future, Salem, Gonjasufi and more. This is most likely due to Reed's hauntingly modern production approach that seems to encapsulate all the new buzz genres in this post-dubstep indie dance environment we are currently immersed in. 'Endless Path' features six tracks (no tracklisting though) of mainly ghostly instrumentals with the exception of G-Side's Yung Clova rhyming on the first track of the B-side. The production has a vague, atmospheric style that touches on moody Blade Runner-esque soundtrackery to all out mystical beatless new age hip-hop in the vein of Lil B's recent LP on Weird Forest. Incidentally, the beat heavy 'Set Loose' that ends side A was originally intended for said rapper. Spooky business.

Babe Rainbow’s ‘Endless Path’ arrives propelled by
the momentum of his 2010 debut, the ‘Shaved EP’
on Warp.
· It’s dark atmospherics and minimalist bass
excursions certainly inform this new material, but
it’s also strongly coloured by the myriad mixtapes
and “chopped & screwed” projects that Babe
Rainbow has unveiled in the past year.
· ‘Greed’ features a scene-stealing appearance from
the charismatic Yung Clova of Alabama’s rising
stars G-Side, who have been called the successors
to Outkast’s throne atop dirty south hip-hop.
· ‘Set Loose’ is a propulsive, percussion-laced
odyssey that began life as a beat intended for
rapper and internet phenomenon Lil B.
· Babe Rainbow (aka Cameron Reed) has found fans
in Salem, Odd Future, Gonjasufi and others, while
remixing the likes of MF Doom, The Weekend,
Midnight Juggernauts and many more.
· Limited to only 200 copies for the UK and Eire.
