Simon Bainton - Sun Settlings

Sun Settlings by Simon Bainton

4...according to our on Thu 19 May, 2011.

Here's one of those cute 3" CD's on Hibernate. This is part of their postcard series which is essentially a 3" CD stuck onto a postcard via a foam nipple. Ahhh... foam nipples. You know what you're getting with Hibernate.... nice packaging and good quality pastoral ambience and this ticks both boxes.  You get 7 tracks of tinkly piano, field recordings, drifty ambience and some electronics. It's making me feel all warm inside and it could well be a replacement for my night time cup of Horlicks. If only this was a bit more malty? It's all very well done though and it's good to hear some misery strings crop up on 'Sun Settlings pt 2'. The piano adds an extra dimension to the music and it separates it slightly from the current excess of home made ambience.

One half of the duo Pausal, Simon Bainton brings a stunning ep to the postcard series brimming with pastoral ambience and the softer, lighter end of drone.

1. Arrival
2. Fry Aquatic
3. Warm Peninsula
