Fucked On A Pile Of Corpses by Skullflower

Lets get straight to the facts here. I fucking adore Skullflower, I really do. When a new album drops I'm like an excitable child and this occasion is no different. Here the revolving door of West Yorkshire's finest is four strong with Matthew Bower, Lee Stokoe, George Proctor and Samantha Davies. 'Hanged Man's Seed' begins with striking metal sounds like an electrified sword being struck while deeply sinister atmospherics brew. Then onto 'Viper's Fang' which is a full on intense blast of super evil sounding "rock". 'Defiling Their Temples With Bestial Lust' explores a sort of post black metal zone. The vibe is ultra doomed but I find the overall effect quite euphoric. If there is such a place as hell then 'Annubis Station' is as close as anything I've heard that creates a visual image of the place purely through sonics. We're not talking some guys in their bedroom here doing "noise" this is the real deal, proper evil darkside scary shit. Possibly the most brutal Skullflower assault yet, and that is really saying something. 'Fairy Knife Hell' is a gargantuan blast of pure granular sound. Am digging the fidelity on this one too. Essential for any Skullflower collection!

The most remorseless, brutal Skullflower ever!. Alternating between granular lo-fi primitive rock and granular lo-fi primitive Power Electronics, this taut disc is a chain mail glove of hate to any lazy minds who've tainted the air with describing Skullflower as 'psychedelic'. But that's not to say this is an all out total assault. There are also moments of tender acoustic balladry, its just that they don't exist. The remorseless brutal sound is primitive, but as detailed and rich as a blood soaked medieval canvas, somewhere betwixt The Rita and Clandestine Blaze, but more brutal! Long live the New Flesh! Kether is in Malkuth, Malkuth is in Kether, but in a different way...
