Sensitivity, Without Permission by Sunburned Hand of The Man

Yet another CD release from the mega-productive Sunburned Hand of the Man collective. You've probably already got a pretty good idea what to expect here. These songs were improvised in various places in Europe and range from freeform twanging and plonking to more groove-based explorations. Some tracks, most notably 'London Alpha (A Node)', even boast some hypnotic vocal stylings from someone or other, and ubiquitous Vibracathedralite Mick Flower appears on about half of it, with the closing track even having been (surprisingly well) recorded in his living room. As you'd expect from the Sunburned lot, the whole mess is a sloppy and joyous affair, with enthusiasm and commitment redeeming some of the less listenable passages. I wouldn't say there aren't some uneasy moments when they lose their way a little, but that's to be expected with this kind of freeform experimentalism, isn't it? A maelstrom of clanks and clicks and gurgles from which grooves and melodies appear and disappear unannounced, in that space between conscious and unconscious thought. If you're into this group's brand of free psych this won't disappoint.
