01. cold rain (12:51) / 02. get right church > (8:45) / 03. environments > (7:16) / 04. summer magic (6:11) TRT: 35:04. "full on golden road line up with MV /EE / DOC / MUSKOX / J in montreal from january 23, 2010 with a big sound and big vibe. amazing what this unit can sound like cranked thru a big PA and with the sweet touches of doc dunn (pedal steel, rhythm guitar/rhodes), muskox (bass) and mascis layin' it down on the skins. power jams and way cool how the band stretches out and gets kinda formless in spots even tho' this is an opening slot for dino jr. the crowd is into it! outta the gate "cold rain" jettisons awareness and launches with a "kraut" section that is a rarely featured section of the arrangement. no drums on this cut and it is still a massive groove/pulse sound. the next 3 tunes run continuously and loose, ragged at times, but glorious. "get right church" is the most neo-roadhouse strobe of the MV & EE cannon to date. a jolt to the matrix like '77 era ballroom giants. this dissolves into a very cool and unique "environments" which takes on the breakdown of a hydra with the sonic shapes made possible by the big band. a fluid and sweet release as the set coasts into "summer magic" with its awe insp poundage and crystalline vocals. the counterpoint/harmony is so important to the totality of that song on the "barn nova" LP, that it is a magical moment to hear it sung loud and proud like a 21st century blues sermon. awesome set. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. "
