Kitty, Daisy & Lewis - Smoking In Heaven

Smoking In Heaven by Kitty, Daisy & Lewis

3...according to our on Fri 27 May, 2011.

Phil, God bless him, used to rave about these lot. Kitty, Daisy and Lewis are, I believe, the precocious offspring of the bloke who owns The Exchange mastering studio and the lady who used to be the drummer in The Raincoats no less. Both appear on this record, writing, playing and producing. A bit like my VAT inspector and shop assistant parents helping me decorate my house. They peddle an old fashioned brand of music which sounds a bit like 50's skiffle and rockabilly, a sliver of Amy Winehouse here and there. I expected it be raucous and a whole heap of fun but it just seems like a polite pastiche. The songs aren't particularly strong or memorable and it doesn't really make up for that with blitzkrieg production. I'm sure it will be a blast at the summer festivals though.

· Highly talented sibling trio follow up their hugely successful
debut album with a brand new longplayer ‘Smoking In Heaven’.

· While the band’s influences are firmly rooted in the past, the

and recorded/produced by the band on entirely vintage
analogue equipment in their home studio.

others.
