Cloud Control are a modern indie-pop band with a dreamy post punk vibe mixed up in the history of British underground pop music. Think The Smiths, The Feelies and a bunch of others but with a sprinkling of ethereal gospel-esque vocals. 'This Is What I Said' isn't a bad little track at all, though not something that would normally appeal to me. Kinda reminds me of Fleet Foxes or one of them lads. Overtly perky pop music. B-side 'Island' slows things down a bit and gets all serious. Vocally things go a bit Antony And The Johnsons with a minimal arrangement based on some light guitar chords that remind me of the insanely underrated Life Without Buildings before heading off into more standardised emotive indie pop territory.
