Yes this is the label's first long player. It's in a proper recycled card package on a 5" CD! Like a real album & everything!!!!! They're from Burlington, VT on the East Coast of America. There. I've just done my Geography. I can go fly over & stalk them now, I know everything about them. I've seen the photos & reckon I could trace them to the nearest bar they play their dinky, twee acoustic sing-song pop gems at. They sound stylistically like an old K records act with strong Scando-pop overtones. The lass has a sweet homely honey-ed voice (remember Joy Zipper?) indeed & together they can knock out everything from fizzy bubble-gum anthems to soppy, slow strummy laments. They sound joyfully unconcerned with the hateful constraints of the music industry & are therefore warmly received around these parts. Sassy & daft DIY indie of the highest order, naive & unapologetically soft-hearted. A pleasure to hear on a sunny afternoon!!!!
The Shortest Days is the first full-length album for Let's Whisper and also for WeePOP! , but far from being the first time the band and label worked together. They were on our first pop-up compilation, released two EPs and came over to the UK to play shows several times.
Long time followers, will have seen Let's Whisper going from an acoustic duo to a 4 piece band, then a 5 piece to an acoustic duo all over again. Even though its core has always been Dana and Colin's heartfelt songwriting, they are always open to opportunities to let their songs find new ways to be heard and willing to take chances with fresh sounds.
The Shortest Days certainly reflects all that, finding the band in its best form, with more robust, fuller songs, but still incredibly personal and fragile at times.
