Busy Signal - Badman Place (Coki remix & Dub)

Badman Place (Coki remix & Dub) by Busy Signal

3...according to our on Thu 12 May, 2011.

I wasn't sure about this at first what with the auto-tune on the vocals but once it gets going it's alright. I don't know the original track but Coki applies some wobble and paranoid synths giving it a really edgy feel. It was only a matter of time really before dubstep and dancehall productions merged and the results are pretty much as expected really. It does kinda work but I like the sense of space in dubstep and I do really love dancehall because of its energy so when this stoned element is applied (not that they're not all stoned anyway!) it kind of sucks out that energy. Hmmmm... Fear not as there is a dub version on the flip which is obviously lighter on the vocals and slightly heavier on the effects.

Off with their heads! Badman Place (Coki-DMZ remix) is the ragga dubstep marriage of 2011. Coki (DMZ) takes Busy Signal & Mavado's hard-hitting reality ragga to the next level with this awe-inspiring sonic revolution remix. When Busy & Mavado, the two major players in today's dancehalls meet Coki, who as one half of DMZ has been central to the scene since it's early south London origins, the result is every bit as hard-hitting as you can imagine. Badman Place (Coki-DMZ remix) weds two tribes at the top of their respective games, the reverberations are about to be heard all round the world...
