Ever wonder what it would sound like if Beethoven had joined The Beatles? Me too, but I’m here to tell you that The Brian Jonestown Massacre’s percussionist Joel Gion has released a new solo project. These home studio recordings were written and performed entirely by the Dig! documentary comic relief tambourinist. The sound? Let’s start with the DIY side of Creation Records, add some Bossa Nova stylings and then some 60’s Soundtrack sensibilities mixing to make his very own unique sound. Playfulness, brooding and intensity all take turns as acoustic guitars in a reverb haze blow over percussion grooves evoking vintage moods that remain retro retread free. POW!
