As the title and the artwork suggest, we're in for a celestial ride as Tim Martin dons his kosmische cap for nine micro astral odysseys on this C30 tape. Expect glistening synth scapes with playful warm and hypnotic melodies. He gets some hypnotic little sequences going as the tracks gently evolve. Phil is reminded of some of the retro-70s sci-fi sounds being broadcast from the Ghost Box label and on several occasions you can visualise Patrick Moore narrating images of Milky Ways and black holes. The perfect soundtrack to an evening's stargazing.

The lab is built, elements have arrived and synthesis has begun. The first batch is from the always
on point Maps And Diagrams.
In today’s vacuous, celebrity obsessed, throw-away society, artists are under ever increasing pressure
to keep inventing new sounds and gimmicks to keep their music fresh and relevant. This manic
march to musical madness often results in yet another hollow victory of style over substance.
Red Moon Rising ambitiously attempts to define a daring new concept; that of ‘Acoustic Archaeology’.
Nine esoteric hymns form an inspirational and intuitive slice of ‘kosmische musik’, one that cleverly
unearths the groundbreaking moment at which the German masters of yore, toned down their avantgarde
experimental facet and started to develop what we now call Ambient.
Hypnotic rhythms, histrionic hiss, shifting minimalist patterns of sequential sounds are resourced
to create an original analogue schematic. Sonic subjects become isolated and signal -
flows emphasised.
A joyful journey of modulation, movement and deep exploration.
