Of Montreal - Controller Sphere

Controller Sphere by Of Montreal

4...according to our on Wed 20 Apr, 2011.

Of Montreal have been going for-bloody-ever and they're still doing something worth a listen, which is quite something really. They seem to be getting more psychedelic lately, but that suits me fine. The opening track on here is a distorted and bassy instrumental, and then it's back to something closer resembling business as usual. If you know their other records then you know the score, really, although the penultimate track brings in some half-spoken vocals and a kind of Prince-esque groove. Some beautiful guitar tones in the final track, too. Impressive how even after all these years this band are still stretching the boundaries of their sound. I can't see anyone who enjoys their other recent records not being into this one too.
