I just looked out of the office window and I saw a little Jack Russell dog prancing around the car park. Its owner was throwing a ball for the dog to fetch. The dog reciprocated the gesture and brought the ball right back to its Doggy Daddy. The pooch then ran behind a car in the corner of the car park and did a massive shit on the floor. Its little tail was up, it was squatting and its wee ass was shaking. Its sphicter was evacuating little nuggets of doggy delight. Then poochie ran off. That pretty much sums this 7" up. The mighty have not only fallen they have been pooped out onto some manky old Leeds tarmac. Wretched.
• Gang Of Four, one of the most radical and radically important groups of the last thirty years, release the single ‘Who Am I?’ on Grönland Records. The song tackles a consistent Gang Of Four theme over the years, that of the consumerist’s relationship with his world, and reveals the band to be just as provocative now as they were back in their post punk heyday.
• The single will be backed with the B-side ‘Sleeper’.
• ‘Who Am I?’ has been taken from Gang Of Four’s critically lauded ‘Content’, the band’s first album of new songs for sixteen years and a record that sees founding members Jon King and Andy Gill continuing to deliver intelligent and liberating music that is both provocative and thrilling.
• “Much imitated, never bettered – Gang Of Four are back, their lyrics and music as sharp as ever” - The Sunday Times; “One of the most influential bands of the 21st century” - NME, “Like some hibernating agit-prop agency awakening to meet the needs of these hard times, Gang of Four are in typically brusque form on their first new material for 16 years” - The Independent.
