Kamil Kowalczyk - Aurora

Aurora by Kamil Kowalczyk

3...according to our on Thu 31 Mar, 2011.

This is my first exposure to this Polish born, Edinburgh based artist, most likely as this (As far as I am aware) is his first physical release. Comprised of two long pieces, the first 'Model II' begins with sparse, minimal electronic tones/drones which slowly morph for a short while until some distant bleeps slowly creep into the mix, then the tones shift into the lower end of the spectrum becoming heavier. This continue in this manner for a whopping thirty two minutes. 'Plasma' for me is the more interesting piece of the two, evoking visions of being lost in space and floating through the cosmos, not unlike Nurse With Wound's excellent 'Space Music' album.

Kamil Kowalczyk is a composer/audio artist which has been working with electronic music for about eight years. Originally he comes from Poland, but currently he lives in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Kamil has always been interested in sounds, particularly “electronic”, which one can create using artificial devices like synthesizer and different kinds of synthesis or anything in-between.
Since his childhood he has been listening to the sounds of the nature, machines, devices and everything which has been “unusual”. His first experiments with sounds were back around 1996, using just old Casio keyboard and tape deck, playing some random “noise” or “drone”, without knowing such things exist.
His mind has been filled with plenty of musical ideas, so, around 2002 he has started using computer with some simply software to compose his music and just experiment with sounds. Since 2006 he has released six albums in mp3 format on US Zenapolae net label.
In 2010 he has started playing some gigs, in Edinburgh, and Ireland and he has established his very first label Prototyp Produktions Ltd, as a place to release and promote his music and other audio visual works which may appear in the future.
