Two chunks of hand crafted 180g vinyl you have to need. They have the feel of classic rub a dub with fat modern production and vocals from veterans on top form. Little John's voice still melts in the ears and the Midnight Rock label boss Jah Thomas is flat having it with one of the best vocals he’s ever laid, originally recorded in Jamaica for Kalbata and Mixmonster's fully analogue ‘Sugar Plum’ release on Soul Jazz, before getting the remix treatment for this release from Rob “RSD” Smith and Mungo's Hi Fi. The second 12" boasts a hauntingly prophetic track by Sugar Minott voiced in Scotland shortly before his death. Lady Ann's ‘Doctor Doctor’ is one of the roughest love songs ever, and it's all topped off by Ranking Levy who was the man recorded Little John and Jah Thomas in the first place.
