Deerhunter - Memory Boy

Memory Boy by Deerhunter

Keep getting close to warming to the sound of Deerhunter then I remember that they are bunch of douche-bags and quickly come to my senses. Right prima donnas I reckon. Anyway, 'Memory Boy' is the second single from 'Halcyon Digest' and it's a well executed take on psychedelic guitar pop that for some reason brings to mind mid-90s UK indie popsters like Duffy and The Boo Radleys. It's a shiny little pop number, that's for sure. B-side 'Nosebleed' is a new tune that again brings to mind the flowery indie pop, shoegaze and psych bands of the UK's late 80s/early 90s underground scene. Kinda upbeat dream pop in the classic 4AD tradition I guess. You'll buy it.

• Atlanta’s Deerhunter release ‘Memory Boy’, the second single to be taken from their widely celebrated latest album ‘Halcyon Digest’.

•    Clocking in at just over two minutes, the spectral and shimmering ‘Memory Boy’, like its predecessor ‘Revival’, presents the four-piece at their succinct best.

• The single will be backed with a new track, ‘Nosebleed’.

• The artwork was conceived by Bradford Cox, which continues with the monochrome DIY cut- and-paste aesthetic that has been a key theme with ‘Halcyon Digest’; To launch the album, Deerhunter asked fans to send in photos of strategically-placed Cox-made posters captured in public and private places. In return, willing participants received access to previously unheard Deerhunter tracks.
