Third 12" to drop from Antony Williams AKA Headhunter after a couple of killers for Loefah's Swamp 81. 'This Is It' is more in the mould of his 'Footcrab' 12" being heavily inspired by the hyper syncopated uptempo rhythms of the Chicago footwork scene. This one will get some foot moving for sure with lazer synths, a housey midway breakdown, heavy kicks 808 rim shots and cowbells to make you freaky on the floor. 'Make 'Em Bounce' is a techno stomper with a footwork compatible vocal sample. As the groove builds some tasty acid squiggles are slowly introduced. I really dig this guys sound, although there's nothing mind blowingly original, as a sum of its parts and his obvious influences it's done particularly well. Top drawer functional club material.
Massive new Tectonic 12" from man of the moment - Bristol's very own Addison Groove. Tony Williams aka Addison Groove appeared last year with the anthem 'Foot Crab' on Loefah's impeccable Swamp 81 imprint. Anyone who has been to a dubstep dance in the last year will have likely heard the original or one of many VIP mixes and re-edits of this infectious monster of a tune - or at least seen it listed on countless end of year 'best of' lists and DJ charts more recently. Taking in elements of the Chicago Juke/Footwork scene and bringing in a knowledge of bass heavy dubstep production (as acquired during his former incarnation as Headhunter), Addison Groove has already made a huge, rippling impression on dance music across the world. The world has been holding tight for more Addison Groove ever since, and hot on the tails of a recent follow up on Swamp 81 is this excellent 12" for Tectonic, featuring some of his best work yet. 'This Is It' is a bubbly 138bpm dancefloor banger, laden with pounding sub-heavy 808 kicks and soul-scraping claps, blending bass science with original Chicago attitude in a way that only Addison Groove can do. The whole rhythm is lifted by rave-flavoured bleeps and blips chiming out in a melodic progression as vocal samples sound out on top. Absolutely enormous tune! Flip for the slower tempo, yet just as danceable 'Make Um Bounce'. Hitting in at 133bpm, this 4/4 rhythm is getting hammered by everyone from Jackmaster to James Zabeila and as soon as you hear the first kick drum hit, you'll know why! Very aptly titled, this tune WILL make you bounce! Bass heavy and full of booty bouncing badness! Widespread DJ support from Kode9, Skream, Pinch, Loefah, James Zabiela, Jackmaster, Boddika, Martyn, 2562 and many many more!
