Pascal Asselin has been knocking about for a while under various guises but perhaps he's most famously known for his work as Millimetrik especially after two top albums on Make Mine Music. Here sees 4 of his tracks refixed (and destroyed!) by a number of folks like Stafraenn Hakon, Komparce, E10000 and Maxime Tobin. Not really household names aside from Hakon but it's a solid EP. The opener sees Staefraenn Hakon destroying (quoting the inside of the CD here) Outhouse/ I Wish You Will Never Leave. I've not really heard any shoegazey indie electronica in a while and it's kind of nice to hear it again. It's done amazingly well and fans of mid period Epic 45 will lap this track up! The Komparce mix is a kind of hazy sounding shoegaze chill fest with lazy sounding hip-hop beats. Nice! The E1000 mix is a well banging speeded up dubstep affair and the last mix by Maxime Robin again goes down the electronics/ hip-hop route with it sounding a bit like Wagon Christ or something. All 4 mixes are very different but the EP gels well. Limited to not very many copies on the Sound In Silence label who released the Absent without Leave album!
Millimetrik is Québec City resident Pascal Asselin, also member of Below The Sea, Le Chat Blanc Orchestra and Glider.
Pascal’s music is a mix of electronica and ambient with touches of shoegaze.
