"This is a real keeper...proper dazed pop scree. killer". Not my words the words of an over excited press release. A proper keeper eh? Neville Southall there was a good one. Anyway's as they say this one is a 'keeper', a 'killer' if you like. One side sounds like a lo-fi re-work of Mercury Rev's 'Holes', the other a Spector-ish take one of Daniel Johnston's more tuneful tumbling efforts. A fine tune indeed which recalls the young lank haired Teenage Fanclub. Fans of Spectrals and the like will also enjoy this.
A Grave With No Name is the recording moniker of Londoner Alexander Shields plus friends. This is the band's first new material since 2010's acclaimed 'Mountain Debris' debut. Recorded without the meticulous production work which characterized 'Mountain Debris' the focus of this single has shifted to the vulnerability and honesty of Shields' songwriting. Limited to 300 copies. Artwork by Neill Kidgell. This is a real keeper...proper dazed pop scree. killer.
