Function - Feed Forward Versions

I'm sure someone's been keeping this Sandwell District shit from me. Ant most likely. Whenever anything on the label comes in he hoovers it up faster than you can say "charlie off a prozzy's tit". Well, not one to be beaten down when it comes to slicing techno, I downloaded the album and was well into it and decided there and then that I'd swipe the next thing to come in for my very own review pile. Which has ended up being this. The name Function sort of implies some sort of solid and unspectacular DJ tool and, without listening with due care or attention, you could easily write it off as such. You can't quite call it dubby, you can't quite call it industrial but what you can call it is very pure, very understated and very high quality techno with a gorgeously rich and broody atmosphere. Wish I'd scored the album on vinyl now..
