Like the quote in the press release for this release... 'Dana's love of beautiful women and deep thought shines through on each hand wrought track'. Sounds incredibly sincere to me but doesn't really reflect on the music contained on this four track EP 'Wants'. Dana's music is erratic, inventive and very much lo-fi. Reminds me Jad Fair or one of them outsider artist types due to the sketchbook like presentation of his ideas and his inability to really finish what he has started. Some of these tunes are well rounded indie pop efforts yet the others are just a vocal rant accompanied by vague yet like-able riffage. Oh, and each track sounds like it was recorded on different equipment at different times with different people. It'll appeal to anyone interested in the American lo-fi underground or those of you into outsider art types. Bit like late 70's New York punk meets K Records twee. I reckon it's pretty good.
Wants by Dana Jewell is a collection of songs written and performed by one of our most introspective and romantic of friends. Dana's love of beautiful women and deep thought shines through on each hand wrought track. His vinyl solo-debut is guaranteed to get you feelin'. Dana is also the proud father of Wild Animal Kingdom Records.
