Inna Daze/ Won't Hurt by Pangaea

4...according to our on Thu 24 Feb, 2011.

It's been way too long since we've heard from this guy.. Over a year since that last double pack I think? Still, it's really quite refreshing in this day and age to see someone who's happy to bide their time and consistently release top quality stuff rather than merely trying to strike while the hype iron's hot, flooding the marketplace with a release a month. I had no idea a newie was due.. I pulled 'Memories' out of the box I just unpacked to remind myself how ace it was and there it was staring me in the face! Fanks, distributor! 'Inna Daze' has all the hallmarks, like the super nimble and exquisitely executed percussion and that bass sound which probably should sound cliched but somehow doesn't in his hands, but the tone is quite new for him.. I'm getting a much darker, more claustrophobic feel from it. 'Won't Hurt' on the other side tones down the bass but uses a similar kind of sound palette while also adding some which could easily have come from Robert Henke's recent stock. Loving his restrained use of the vocal sample.. It's a proper tension creator. He's even managing to chuck that rave klaxon noise in there without it sounding dodge which is quite a feat since it's been hammered to death over the past couple of years.

For Hessle Audio’s 17th release, co-owner Pangaea presents a two-track 12” of his own take on UK bass music. Inna Daze =
132bpm / Won’t Hurt = 134bpm.
