Evil Madness - Super Great Love

Super Great Love by Evil Madness

4...according to our on Thu 24 Feb, 2011.

Edition Mego treat us to another fine release in the shape of a fourth Evil Madness studio record. Now, this is news to me but Evil Madness are technically an Icelandic electronic super group consisting of Petur Eyvindsson, Johann Johannsson, Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson, Helgi Thorsson and BJ Nilsen (who is not "quite" Icelandic but was born in a country "very" near Iceland). Quite an impressive line-up I'm sure you'll agree. Evil Madness exist to bring joy to your life. They're not overly concerned with intellectualising the content of their output and seem to be happy doing whatever the hell they like, which in this case is bringing the party. This is not just mood music, this is 'good' mood music! So, on 'Super great Love' we are treated to a generous portion of classic electro, proto-house, (kinda) trance and techno tidbits all of which are upbeat, fun and tastefully executed. In parts it gets a bit ravey but their interpretation is again, kinda tasteful so it still works well. Arpeggio's fly about, 909's make their presence known and soft synths rule the melodic line, just as it should be. Some totally great moments here that are well worth investigating. It's a limited one too so don't expect these lads to hang around. Nice to see the pillars of Icelandic electronic scene keep it tight like faaaamily. Yo!

Evil Madness has been described as the Traveling Wilburys of Icelandic electronic music. Behind the name stand men like Petur Eyvindsson, Johann Johannsson, Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson, Helgi Thorsson and BJ Nilsen (who is not "quite" Icelandic but was born in a country "very" near Iceland).

This album, "Super Great Love", presented by Editions Mego will be their 4th album since the their formation in 2006. Now for those of you reading who know the music of Evil Madness will know for sure that this band does what ever they damn well pleases when it comes to making the music. With "Super Great Love" they want to get people in the "good" mood for the fresh new year and present them with some upbeat Icelandic "Disko" tunes.
