Grinderman - Palaces Of Montezuma

This new cut from Nic Cage's Grinderman is way less dirty then I expected. Well, ya know he goes on about pussy and fucking and all that wholesome stuff usually. It's literally like opening a copy of Razzle is listening to a Grinderman record. The new single has Nic Cage on top form and the band sound ace. For some reason this might be the most Australian record I've heard since I clapped my little audio peepers on that Men At Work record. Palaces of Montezuma has a proper "Sympathy For The Devil" feel to it with its funky bass lines and rolling percussion. Nic Cages voice sounds great on this record as do his band. It's quite unusual to hear them not singing about women and their...ermmm parts. This is a more spiritual affair. It sounds great. The standout track for me is the second song on side A which is a re-imagining of the title track with guests Cats Eyes and John Travolta. This one is really heavy and thick sounding. Ace. The rest of the tracks are remixes of the title track and all have enough good moments within them to validate any potential purchase. Nic Cage ..Actor.. Musician.. Lover.. Poet.. What do you mean this is not Nic Cage... Oh fucking hell.....
