Brian and I have just been discussing how good of a name for a label 'Police in Helicoper' is. 'Very good' was our conclusion. Disrupt's modern day digi-dub is generally 'very good' itself albeit with occasional lapses into slight numptyness - for me at least. 'Events Occur in Realtime' is a quality effort, a slow-motion throbber that doesn't ever seem to quite repeat itself.. The various elements (organ sounds, slap bass type sounds, skankin' synths, a vast array of samples) seem completely averse to colliding in quite the same manner twice, which is a pretty cool trick I think. Tapes I can't remember hearing before but he steals the show here with a totally bangin' clash of dub and dancehall sensibilities, the extra lively rhythm pummeling away with varying degrees of echo while grainily distorted 8-bit synths wail away on top.
After a short delay, Police in Helicopter return with this hot and ultraheavy spilt release. Disrupt delivers an absolute awesome deepslow 8-bit destroyer in the shape of ‘Events Occur In Realtime’, fully herbalised for some slowmow headbanging. The flipside comes with a raw digi-dub killer from Jackson Bailey's Tapes project, which sounds like Mordant Music versioning a classic Tubbys dub as heard by moles beneath the streets of Kingston. ‘Atomica Rydim’ has been faithfully mastered to cassette and back again, so switch off that dibby-dibby noise reduction and turn the amp up into the red. Both sides mastered by Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin, where Quality Bass always comes first. Initial 500 copies in camouflage pic sleeve.
A. Disrupt - Events Occur In Realtime B. Tapes - Atomica Rydim
