Our album of the week (18th February 2011)
...according to our Ant on Fri 18 Feb, 2011.
From my experience these LP's from Aritomo are available for purchase on the site for a minuscule amount of time before we have to click the sold out button. It's unsurprising really as these privately pressed LP's really are in a league of their own; all hand assembled with paste on artwork on heavy duty board sleeves embellished with Aritomo's distinctive and magical abstract drawings. A mere 200 copies of this exist so acting quickly is recommended to avoid disappointment. From listening to Aritomo's music it's clear to see why labels like Blackest Rainbow and Beta-Lactum Ring have wanted to reissue and share the out of print material to those that missed out first time around. Listening to the record it becomes clear that Aritomo is a creative force, immersed in a world I will probably never truly understand. As the songs are sung in Japanese there is a language barrier but in many ways that adds to the mystery. Track titles like 'Sound Of Pixie- Recollection-' and 'Ancestor Of Gynoid' offer a vague and possible insight, but really who knows. Followers of Aritomo's unique take on Japanese psychedelic folk music will find much joy here... Kick back, weave a cocoon around yourself and submerge into his universe.
This is my 5th LP album.
Like all my LPs of conventional, this was recorded by only me.
In other words I played all instruments. I sang all songs and choruses. (All my music never includes female voice so far. I often sing by falsetto.)
And like all my LPs of conventional, this was recorded by reel tapes.
I spent all effort of 2010 for this LP, and I made this LP. I got much learning and joy, pain, despair, hope, in 2010.
This LP includes "my viewpoint to the world" and "my viewpoint to individual". Each viewpoints that are extremes.
Many lies swirl in this world. It is important that I know it... And I think some many people begin to notice those lies.
I have a lot of faults and a lot of potentialities. It is important that I know it too. I have admiration to imaginary existence. And I have prospects to the reality by the admiration.
About sounds... I tried some new experiments. And I think, perhaps this music includes influence from many splendid music... For example, Kenji Ozawa, Anton Senchi, Aska, Mick Stevens... Excellent songwritings and devotion to sounds.
I do not understand whether this music is good, yet. However I really spent all effort of 2010 for this LP.
If you enjoy this music, and if you notice the transfiguration of the world by this music, I am glad. However please interpret it freely.
Esperanza y esperar.

I don't think this guy knows how to play the flute or can sing in tune either. Sorry. This is REALLY BAD. Case in point of having someone get behind a release and praising it to high heavens for no valid reason. Typical of what's going on today in the sorry state of affairs of music. But I do have to give him points for releasing his own music.
NO STARS OUT OF FIVE

F*^&%#*d up yeah. Sometimes one has to listen to something that is discordant, not obvious and refreshing in being ( subjective ) bad. It slaps you a little bit, but does it hurt?
