Following the river is the wise move if you're a weary traveler with only the stars to guide you. Can't go far wrong with a river. It's both tranquil and life giving. Lykke Li would like to reassure the river that she is following so you know... Don't worry so much, yeah. If you're familiar with L.L. you'll have a good idea of what to expect here. L.L. makes experimental pop music in the vein of PJ Harvey and Kate Bush but with an 'youthful' 'urban' edge. 'I Follow Rivers' is a well executed pop song with some tasteful elements that save it from mediocrity. Flip it and you get a remix of their previous single 'Get Some' by Primary I. It's a tranquil affair littered with dub-isms and exotic flavours which I like. Kinda spacy too. NO! The sax has arrived, I take that back.
OVERVIEW: ‘I Follow Rivers’ will be released on February 14th and provides a stark contrast to the first single from the album ‘Get Some’. Whilst ‘Get Some’ deals with themes like empowerment and role play, ‘I Follow Rivers’ deals with another tug of war; the powerful force called love and its obsession. A dark, destructive one, stronger then any river, any drug. It haunts you, leaves you, begging for more...
“Oh I beg you: can I follow? Oh I ask you: why not always? Be the ocean, where I unravel. Be my only, be the water.”
Like ‘Get Some’, the track recently stormed blogs reaching no. 1 on the hypemachine global chart in a matter of hours.
