Bare Wires - Don’t Ever Change

Don’t Ever Change by Bare Wires

3...according to our on Thu 17 Mar, 2011.

This single from Oakland slackers Bare Wires is such a throwback. Its not a sturgeon with the face of John Terry or a trout with ten fingers clutching a picture of Finding Forrester instead of gills. It's rooted in 70's... well not so much rooted as living in the 70's. The title track is a glam rock affair with a Glitter stomp drumbeat and vocals that drawl across the proceedings like a lazy coil of hashish smoke. The flip side sounds so much like "Get Back" by The Beatles I reckon Bare Wires might be hearing a knock at their door from a certain Mr McCartney....if McCartney actually bothered to listen to new music and wasn't completely baked on luscious Green. Not a bad single even though you cant help but think about flares and Tiger Sharks off the coast of Brighton...

"A power trio that looks like it stepped out of a time warp from the 1970s, Bare Wires is rapidly perfecting its crisp, no-bull garage punk, reminiscent of the Stooges on too much caffeine and other stimulants. - San Francisco Bay Guardian. In his book The 10 Rules of Rock and Roll; Robert Forster lists 10 truths of rock. Rule number ten states that the three-piece band is the purest form of rock and roll expression and Oakland, California’s three-piece Bare Wires evidently know this. Set to release their latest single “Don’t Ever Change” with accompanying B-Side “Ready To Go!” through emerging UK indie label Robot Elephant Records. Previous releases include the first ‘Witch House’ Compilation ISVOLT, released in association with Houston based Disaro Records, caused much press interest and critical acclaim. The power trio fronted by moppy curled, mustache treaded guitarist and vocalist Matthew Melton, accompanied by Fletche Johnson (Drums) and Nathan Price (Bass), serve-up their very own brand of yarely glam-infused garage rock.Generating a constant flow of raw pop gems, their instant and infectious ‘Blitzkrieg’ style songs saw them gain the attention from Thee Oh Sees front-man and Bay Area Garage Scene honcho John Dwyer. Bare Wires released their second LP “Seeking Love” in the summer of 2010 on Dwyer’s own label Castle Face, whilst touring the US with both Thee Oh Sees, Ty Segall and Atlanta “flower punk” quartet Black Lips. Their highly anticipated follow up LP “Cheap Perfume” is due for release in 2011, through Oakland based indie SouthPaw Records, (Ty Segall/Young Prisms) and Bare Wires will be hitting UK shores sometime in late Spring as part of a European tour. The garage overload of the last few years may have left way for a 70's glam revival and bands looking to Sweet, Slade, Mott the Hoople and Cheap Trick, and Bare Wires are poised to be leading the pack.
