Excuses by Bibio

A couple of years ago Bibio made the swift transition of a Brummie lo fidelity Boards of Canada affiliate to a Brummie lo fidelity purveyor of J Dilla like hip hop grooves and advertisement friendly summery pop. This move continues to his upcoming new album which has split the office a little although I have found plenty of delightful tunes to whet my whistle amongst its plentiful grooves. This taster 10" comes with two tracks, only one of which is on the promo so you'll have to guess what the other one is like (a Simon and Garfunkel cover apparently). 'Excuses' is a neat piece of jittery hip hop influenced electronica with a beautifully sad autumnal longing in the melody and vocals and just when you thought you'd had it pegged it suprises with a couple of madcap structural left turns. The boy is talented that's for sure and Bibio remain a force to be reckoned with.

· ‘Excuses’ is the introductory single to Bibio’s
mercurial forthcoming album ‘Mind Bokeh’.

· Available on limited edition 10” (1500 copies
worldwide), ‘Excuses’ is a mournful, brooding track
that breaks into a kaleidoscopic, beats-lined finish.

· The A-side is a concise version of the forthcoming
album track ‘Excuses’, and the exclusive B-side is
Bibio’s cover of a Simon & Garfunkel song.
