I like this record. I don't know much about this group but I do know that they are peddling a kind of grungey guitar led sound. It has a pop sensibility that reminds me of Superchunk or even the Foo Fighters. Its quite simple and direct. It has a really rich sound. Dead thick and impressive. Both the songs on this single are sweet and endearing. My favourite is the title track though... catchy and very memorable. Top stuff...
Don't pay any attention to their name – these north London newbies are not yuck at all, they're pretty good, sounding like a shoegazey Sonic Youth! Since the release of Georgia, their debut single on Transparent in March 2010, Yuck have mainly been on tour. They have supported Teenage Fanclub, Modest Mouse and Times New Viking. Their most recent single Rubber was released by The Pharmacy Recording Company in October 2010 and remixed by Mogwai. 2 track 7"A. Holing Out B. Cocunut Bible. Only 500 being made.
