Magic Bullets - Untitled

Untitled by Magic Bullets

Magic Bullets are a 5 piece hailing from San Francisco, California.  They began in 2004 and released their first album A Child But In Life, Yet A Doctor In Love on Words On Music Records.  They later self released an EP entitled Lives For Romance before signing to Brooklyn label Mon Amie Records.  After a lineup change (some members left to join Girls and Dominant Legs), Magic Bullets' newest untitled record finds the band still tipping their hat to their influences (The Smiths, Orange Juice, and even Glenda Collins), while becoming more comfortable with their own sound:  a melding of both UK 80s indie and contemporary west coast dreamy melodies.
Magic Bullets have toured with Tennis, Crocodiles, Dum Dum Girls, No Age, The Chameleons, MGMT, and even Section 25.  They plan to continue touring throughout 2011 beginning with SXSW in March. "Lying Around" is the first single of the Untitled album and the 7" is b/w a Rusholme Ruffians-esque track that nods to their rockabilly tendencies. Magic Bullets' Untitled full length features a collection of equal parts heart ache and indie dance floor fillers.  Recommended tracks are "Lying Around," "Sigh The Day Away," and "Millions of People Running In Circles." The band has recently signed to Domino publishing and will be starting their UK press campaign See what others have had to say about Magic Bullets: "The band's debut album on Mon Amie Records, recalls the early '80s days of Orange Juice, Aztec Camera, Haircut 100 and The Style Council, with a little C-86 in there as well. (That's basically the formula to get me to come see your band. Well, one of them.) In addition to drawing from a bunch of influences dear to me, they write some fantastically catchy songs." Brooklyn Vegan "the band's gleeful, eighties-inspired sound plays like Adderall for the ears." - NY Magazine "classic sounds and structures that feel balmy, wide-eyed, and genuine." - Pitchfork "If you like your rock n' roll sex delivered with a cardigan and James Brown records, then you'll love Magic Bullets."  - Alan McGee, Too Cool To Die “powerful precision and impressive musicianship” – Spin.com “a guns-blazing assault aimed at having a good time” – San Francisco Chronicle:"“guitarist Corey Cunningham‘s brittle, swooning riffs suggest Johnny Marr, while singer Philip Benson‘s sphinxian lyrics come in bursts of poetic beauty“ - Amplifier"
