Steffi - Yours & Mine (Double vinyl LP, CD)

There was a time (BA*) when Norman Records was not a joint where you guys & gals could purchase house records. We didn't really like the genre all that much, being old Indie Rock kids from the suburbs. Then electronica started branching out, dubstep got infused with shades of classic house & as you grow older you begin to forge a love affair with older, more pioneering strains of dance music. In my case an introduction to many Chicago acid house platters has expanded my mind & soul beyond belief. Steffi is a Berlin-based female house producer who makes crisp, atmospheric groovers that sound unbelievably tidy & box fresh. I can't really single out any particular track on here for perusal. Over the course of nine tunes I'm feeling a deep rhythmical brew of shimmering, slinky & strutting European dance music with tremendous gliding synths & pure ecstatic rhythms. Songs effortlessly evolve & build, each one suffused with real feeling and emotion. I've claimed this before but you can often instinctively tell when a Woman has had a hand in creating a piece of electronic music. There's an elegance & serenity throughout this album that is very sublime indeed! This label obviously doesn't release any old gash and Steffi brandishes all the proof you need. (* - Before Anthony)
