Dungen - Oga Nasa Mum / Highway Wolf

Oga Nasa Mum / Highway Wolf by Dungen

I like the look of the Third Man singles. I'm into to the whole blue thing they've got going on. Simple but effective! Mr White appears to have just come back from Sweden as he's released 3 Swedish bands this week. Here's a 7" on his label-o-blueness by Dungen. Dungen, you know them? Swedish psych types who were clearly born in the wrong era. This progtastic effort by 'em is a slow brooding dirgey epic song with big guitars, pianos, flutes, keyboards, chaotic drums and just about everything else you can throw at a record to make it as busy sounding as possible. They do the whole proggy/psyche pastiche thing well so I can't knock 'em for that. It builds and builds into a big epic thing which demands your attention. Bit Pink Floyd-y at moments but it's a decent tune.

Celebrated Swedish rock band Dungen recorded their Blue Series single at the Third Man Studios in September. The 4-piece, led by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Gustav Ejstes, recorded two brand new tracks for the label: a mesmeric psych-pop odyssey Oga Nasa Mum (which translates into English as Eye Nose Mouth ) and a haunting instrumental titled Highway Wolf . Since 2004 Dungen have released a string of critically lauded albums. Their impressive sixth full length Skit i allt (Subliminal Sounds/ Mexican Summer) was released earlier this year.
