Sun City Girls - Gum Arabic (CD)

Lovely thing this. It comes in a nice foldy gold shiny sleeve all numbered (in Arabic) of 1000 copies and it's fresh from Lebanon. I think it's the 1st release we've ever stocked from Lebanon... exciting times! They took a while to arrive as there's loads of crazy shit happening over there like cars being set on fire and dogs being thrown into letter boxes but here they are. We ain't got many left as they mainly sold on pre order but there's a few more coming in a few weeks apparently.  On the CD you get 11 tracks spanning the 20 years or so of their career and they're all cover versions of tracks from the Middle East (the majority of the original artists are unknown) and there's one SCG original composition on there which hasn't been released before. The tracks have been dug out from live tapes and the extensive SCG archive and brought to you in this tasty package!  As expected it's very middle eastern flavoured but it has the trademark insanity you get with SCG releases.. lots of widdly guitar, insane freakouts and a general feeling of freeness all jammed into tight pop (ish) songs. Quality. Quality quality quality....
