Pearson Sound? Well I liked that Parson Sound thing.. Oh hang on, it's Ramadanman innit. I can't remember what the original of this is like because I've mainly been trying to pretend that that last MIA album never happened but this retits is pretty handy I reckon. He completely makes the track his own - to the point where you'd have a very hard time guessing what the original source might be - and as you'd expect from the Hessle Audio co-founder there's a really heavy emphasis on sharp, skittering and insistent percussion that boasts quite a minimalistic bent, almost to the point of bringing to mind some of the footwork stuff going around at the moment. There's not a huge amount of overt melody to it and the odd bass interjections, synth washes and distorted vocal snatches more add atmosphere than anything else. Good thanks!
M.I.A returned earlier this year with her third album // / Y /, an explosion of ideas, sounds and concepts that was easily as incendiary and forward thinking as previous two albums ‘Arular’ and ‘Kala’. Recorded in LA and produced at various points by Rusko, Diplo , Blaqstarr and Switch, // / Y / confirmed M.I.A as one of the most uncompromising and challenging artists around.
‘It Takes A Muscle’ will be released as a limited edition one-sided white label, featuring a mix by Pearson Sound, AKA Ramadanman
