Apparently these guys have their 4th album out soon. I had no idea! I thought they'd only done Lightbulbs. Hey what do I know? Yoyo is the lead track from their forthcoming album Ventriloquizzing and the flipside of this 7" features an Erland & The Carnival remixing the lead track off the album (or carnivalising it...). I think that sentence might have been too content rich... I hope it makes sense. They've not massively moved on from what I remember them sounding like. They still have their motorik thing going on and they still sound like a cross between Tarwater and Appliance. They have their own sound though and when you hear them you know exactly who you're listening to which I guess is a good thing in this day and age of identikit bands and folks copying each other. There isn't anyone else who sounds like these guys. Maybe that's not a good thing though as maybe no one actually wants to sound like them? God knows... ranting now....
· First single proper from hotly anticipated fourth
album ‘Ventriloquizzing’ by Brighton’s Fujiya &
Miyagi.
· This sinister funk number tells of an individual who
goes ‘up and down like a yoyo’, inspired by easilyinfluenced,
indecisive types.
· Released on limited edition 7” vinyl (500 copies)
and digital download, the B-side is an exclusive
reworking, or ‘Carnivalisation’, of the album’s title
track by British folk upstarts Erland & The Carnival.
