Austra - Beat And The Pulse

Beat And The Pulse by Austra

3...according to our on Thu 13 Jan, 2011.

This is dark electro that had the guys in the office proper creaming their pants. They are avid readers of Wire so that should tell you which direction we are heading in. It's quite minimal and brooding. It has atmosphere and mood in spades. It reminds me of The Knife but with more gothic overtones. It sounds great and the production is full of warmth and depth. It has great vocals that remind me of Zola Jesus in their almost operatic delivery. It has a particular mood and feel that should make goths stop slashing themselves and electro/ambient moody bastard heads rub their little beards in wonder. It's dance music that you dont dance to, you sort of sit about drinking wine and talking about it. Quick pass me that copy of Wire I need to overintellectualise a pretty average dark pop combo's musical output... It seemed to get every one but me quite excited so either A) I don't like it or B) I'm just a whole ball of wrong. I guess it's not too bad.. Just not my cup of tea...
