Coki/ Digital Mystikz - Urban Ethics

Now, this showcases the more club orientated side of the label. That slow, throbbing, malevolent post-grime end of the dubstep spectrum. Big grinding stalking android chunks of mid-range wobble ricochet through your startled mind. Then those mad monging slabs of ridiculous low-end that the DMZ collective is nowadays famed for make your stomach deliciously unsettled. Nothing quite as spiritual, eerie & deep as the Mala triple a few months back but as far as titanium strength plates of darkly sinister speaker-wrecking madness goes, this member of the legendary DMZ brotherhood is possibly the king. This stuff actually hits you in the throat, rendering you unable to breathe. Put this next to one of those old classic Skream rollers and you'll have to acknowledge the superiority of Coki's sci-fi heavyosity. There's some fantastic warped stuff happening on the last disc especially. I also love the seemingly random inclusion of two light skanking roots-y style numbers on the flip of the first disc. It lightens the overall mogadon intensity of this triple pack bad-boy a tad. Most interesting track overall is the snappily titled 'It' and it concludes this set. Once again leaves you requiring another fix. Nothing quite as silly as on the last couple of 12"s either (well they were named after kids cartoon shows!!). This is as heavy & scary as you like. Plenty here to totally fuck off that awful neighbour with too. Just go and borrow some bassbins of those nice West Indian chaps down the road!
