Arkist - I Couldn't Possibly/ Only If You Mean it

I Couldn't Possibly/ Only If You Mean it by Arkist

Immerse team up with hotly tipped newcomer Arkist for the release of this superb two track single....  Immerse have had a superb summer by all accounts, releasing a string of singles from the likes of Kontext, Late, Simon/off and Cloak & Dagger that have fired the imagination and gained them support from all corners. Now they look to a new talent in the shape of Bristol based Arkist, a producer who is already hotly tipped and receiving plaudits for his debut single on 'if Symptoms Persist' recorded alongside the excellent Komonazmuk. Arkist presents two brand new tracks here, kicking off with the wonderful techno stylings of 'I Couldn't Possibly', a melancholic and brooding slice of heavy bass and skittish percussion underpins a uniform 4/4 rhythm, whilst dark swirling keys intertwine with the sumptuous sub bass and create a rich and emotive atmosphere, beautiful stuff! The flipside sees Arkist move into more broken beat territory with the brilliant 'Only if You Mean It', a melodic and warm cut that uses retro electro-funk synth lines against cutting edge production styles to great effect. Half time kick drums and insistent percussion give this a wonderful dubbed out feel whilst the lead lines have echoes of early Prince about them, this is a truly engaging production from an exciting new production talent. Arkist is certainly an artist and producer that you will be hearing a lot of in the months and years to come
