Well I'm glad they've finally admitted to it and I'm sure Billy Joel is too. Everyone stop blaming Billy and all his mates for that bloody fire now, eh? I can't remember hearing these before but they seem to ply their trade in fairly epic and ambitious indie pop/rock with strings and all that. I'm finding it much easier to think of comparisons that aren't particularly flattering - Coldplay, Snow Patrol etc. etc. - than I am for any others (erm.. Tindersticks? The High Llamas? Is Cousteau flattering? I don't even know) but don't let my lack of creative reference points put you off - it's high quality stuff.
Custom House Records
presents two superb tracks
from Brighton's hugely
acclaimed Palm Springs.
"I Start Fires is the sound of a
band flexing their musical
muscles, and is the most
ambitious and self-confident
release to date of this truly
individual and independent of
bands" - Rough Trade
"Mercury Rev and Earlies like
acoustic instrumentation, shot
through with a hefty dose of
Southern US country twang.
Absolutely cannot wait for the
new album" - The Source.
"Powerfully executing the beautiful idea of sounds rich and bare getting to the heart of personal inner conflict- who to love?/how to
love? – this cultish band should be up there, right of Radiohead, left of Coldplay, delivering marvels to the masses." Mojo ****
