'Kin 'ell, you're gonna struggle to find better value for an album than this.. Ten tunes for an average of just under 33p each? Way to knock the shit out of recession-hit credit crunch rip-off Britain guyz! The guys in question go by the names of Bryce and Emma (who's not actually a guy) and they've got a canny knack for crafting unnassuming yet quite entrancing modern folk songs with more than just a hint of slowcore. Generally accompanied by a lone guitar, intimately recorded with squeeking strings and all, they coo mysterious and bittersweet lullabies together in the most hushed of tones, their voices complementing each other perfectly. Although the comparisons are all a bit misleading in one way or another I keep thinking of Low, Mazzy Star and Natural Snow Buildings.. I'm finding a similar sort of magic in much of this unexpected treat. The Google Images results for 'elephant paintings' were an unexpected treat too..
Elephant Paintings.
Elephant Paintings is the duo of Emma Crane and Bryce Hample. Soft, hushed folk pop songs interwoven with cassette tape interludes. Delicate and dynamic with a unique organic character and clarity.
