The Drums are starting to sound more like something from a John Hughes 80's film soundtrack every time I hear them. Which of course is a good thing. Me and the Moon is an emotive uptempo track that has great hooks and an urgency that I quite like. I can imagine a young Jon Cusack running towards his true love in the rain in some bittersweet rom-com. It has that sort of longing feel. The remixes are also sweet as a facking nut. Matthew Dear has done a sterling job with his choices of instruments and composition. He has made something pretty great even better. The Drums songs (well some of them anyway) are solid and I guess it would be hard to fuck up something that is already good. The best thing I've heard in the last three minutes. If you only listen to one record this year then you should get out more... or you could stay indoors and mince about with The Drums.
The Drums cap off an incredible 2010, which saw them tipped in the BBC Sound Poll and release their now Silver selling debut ‘The Drums’ with this follow up to the previous singles ‘Best Friend’, ‘Let’s Go Surfing’ and ‘Forever & Ever Amen’. A Limited Edition 12" track EP with mixes coming from Matthew Dear, Moonlight Matters and Twin Shadow.
