It might have escaped your attention but christmas is happening soon. The shops are selling things, there are decorations going up and I even saw a speck of snow this morning, but christmas just wouldn't be christmas without the main event of the festive season Yellow 6 'Merry 6mas' CD's. Now in their twelfth year these are collections of new and unreleased material from the ambient guitar master. I was most impressed with 'Cut' the delicious album from earlier this year and the pieces on this extremely limited handmade CD follow on from that work with further explorations of solo guitar. The premise is simple but its done so effectively that you can't help but drift off into this netherworld of haunting, melancholic bliss. As well as new stuff there's a radio session and some works in progress. I've said it before but i'll say it again - if you have liked Yellow 6 previously you'll love this. If you like stuff like Robin Guthrie, Vini Reilly, La Bradford, Rothko you are hopefully going to love it too.
