Here Jon Attwood enlists his many friends in a project which is quite interesting. He sent out a 3 chord sequence to a bunch of folks, 10 of whom contributed to the recording in ways of their own imagining & returned it to him. Jon re-assembled & mixed all these component parts & edits together to construct an atmospheric minimalist epic totalling 70 minutes. It's really nice to hear all the incredibly subtle fluctuations & nuances as you work your way through the CD. It is a very gently evolving piece of work so don't expect much drama & suspense here. Just purity & space and a gentle, pleasant balmy atmosphere which verges on the ambient. Nice indeed!
Close/r is the new project from Yellow6. A 73 minute CD with three versions of the same song, a cyclic 3 chord progression which evolves slowly with changes in timbre and tone. This composition can seem to suspend time itself in certain passages, then snap back to reality as the awareness dawns that there have been changes and sounds come and go.
A loop of a single guitar was sent out to some friends who returned their own additions which were then pasted together during the summer of 2010. From the many guitars of Yellow6 to piano, treated vocals, keyboards, muted beats, bass, and more guitars from the participants. Contributors to the project are:
fraser macgowan / david newlyn / absent without leave
konntinent / kevin hufnagel / winterlight / ringinglow
stafraenn hakon / northern valentine / arconic
The CD comes in a rubber stamped, recycled ‘RePlay’ gatefold card sleeve with 4 page insert in a limited edition of 300 copies, only available by mail order and from selected stores.
