Split by Duran Duran / Carla Bruni

4...according to our on Thu 16 Dec, 2010.

This split 7" is a couple of covers by the most enchanting pairing since Danny Glover and Mel Gibson. A load of coke sniffing ponces and the wife of a controversial French President. Together at last. Carla Bruni's version of Absolute Beginners is a haunting take on the Bowie "classic". It has a stripped down feel and sounds unbelievably meloncholic. Its a interesting version. The Duran Duran side is ace too. It's a high energy take on another Bowie composition. It sounds great in a sort of wearing your suit jacket sleeves rolled up fopping about on a yacht womanizing type way. I like it actually. It has some really sweet chord changes and is well upbeat. It makes you want to pour cocaine all over a Bolivian models body and sniff it off. Sorry the spirit of Le Bon got truly inside me. Well worth checking out.

Very limited 7” single, the pressing of 1000 total will be split in the following colours 300 on pink opaque, 300 on clear and 400 on black.

The album has already been all over the UK press with a huge feature in NME. This is the follow up single from the Bowie tribute CD.  All profits from the album will be donated to Warchild. War Child is a charity that simply helps children affected by war across the globe no matter what border they inhabit. A charity that Bowie makes no secret about supporting.  Other artists on the album include Devendra Banhart (Megapuss), Vivian Girls and Carla Bruni, Warpaint, ex-Slits Viv Albertine and legendary avant-garde bassist/musician Mick Karn..
