Kurilovo EP by OL

This is an interesting little feller, a 7" from Moscow hip-hop producer and skate obsessive Oleg Buyanov. When he's not shredding the sidewalks of Moscow this lad is working on a new vision for Future Funk which, in my opinion, is an excellent way to spend your time. This one's totally out of the blue. Not only do I know nothing about the record or the artist but it's an absolute gem! Think of O.L as a slightly darker, twisted version of the new stuff from the likes of Onra, Flying Lotus and Dam_Funk and you'll get some idea what to expect here. The beats are skitterish and light on their feet, the bass lines a total wooze inducers and bonus sonic touches give this a unique spooky flavour all of it's own. Definitely worth a listen if you've been digging that whole scene lately. Always been curious as to how records like this are produced. It's like a weird reverse compression thing going on. If anyone knows how it's done e-mail Business Lad at Norman HQ. Ta.

New four-track 7" of quality thump from O.L., aka Oleg Buyanov, an extremely talented young Russian producer, who spends most of his time skating the streets of Moscow and making beats, and together with his crew How To Make he delivers the new Muscovite sound. A must for fans of Flying Lotus, Samiyam, or Onra, and limited to one pressing of 500 copies. Be there or be square. (insert your own flimsy “red” pun here). 500 copies only in a natty hardboard sleeve.
