Jesus H. Corbett that is one hell of a long title. I felt like I'd gone into the future after typing it out. It was a fairly tedious typing session that almost rendered rational thought impossible and enthusiasm drained from me like blood from a mouses face when he realises that the succulent piece of cheddar he has just stuffed into his little face has been tampered with by "Dodgy" Bob Mcscroggins -the worlds most violent holiday rep, who also takes pleasure in "doing mice an injustice". When I actually listened to the record it removed all the cobwebs from my tired little mind. It's a musical journey which spans 13 years and 20 tracks of unrelenting psychedelic quality. Coming from the same label that brought you the fantastic Psych-Funk 101 and the also fantastic Brazilian Guitar Fuzz Bananas. These 20 glorious Psych-Funk masterpieces sound amazing and the record (which will be released on vinyl at some point) comes with a deluxe 52 page booklet with Detailed Annotation PLUS never before seen photos and Ephemera. It's a heady brew which should be drunk straight down into your Rudd Gussett (gullet) it's that good!
The mighty R.D Burman has four tracks which are taken from Bollywood blockbusters and these tracks set the bar pretty high. Luckily the rest of the tracks are equally amazing so that means you are in for a diverse psychedelic feast. The production of the tracks is ace, the songs are curious and alluring and the whole thing is just such a good listen you must welcome this album over your doorstep. A quality slab of wonder from a label that can hardly put a foot wrong. Sweet.

Funky fuzzy psychedelic tracks from 60s and 70s India, from the label responsible for the phenomenal archive collections ‘Psych-Funk 101’ and ‘Brazilian Guitar Fuzz Bananas’. Indian music has become a global musical language but its South Asian roots remain strong, diverse and local. As with WPFC’s other anthologies of this kind, ‘Psych Funk Sa-Re-Ga!’ covers the “golden years” of the movement, from approximately 1970 until 1983. Much of the music on this compilation springs from the Bollywood film industry; composers such as R.D. Burman and the brothers known as Kalyanji Anandji, who recorded and released an inordinate amount of soundtracks. That experiments in the fusion of India’s classical traditions of Hindustani and Carnatic music, and folk strains such as bhangra and dandiya, with Western psychedelia and funk would occur at some point is only natural. Also included are off the beaten path Indian experiments in Psych Funk – for example, two songs from the Simla Beat garage-psych albums, and an oft-heard Deep Purple cover by the ground-breaking Atomic Forest – and examples of the Indian Psych Funk influence on European 70s musicians. Throughout the extensive liner notes, WPFC attempts to broaden the definition of global psychedelia. ‘Psych Funk Sa-Re-Ga!’ contains 20 Indian Psych-Funk masterpieces, with deluxe 20-page booklet with detailed annotation. All these rare and previously unreleased tracks have been restored and remastered, many from the original master tapes.
