Live In Japan Part Two by Fenn O'Berg

I can't remember much about the last album proper from these fellows but, despite it's obvious quality, I remember I wasn't anywhere near as keen on it as I was the previous stuff, mainly because it seemed to the cut 'n' paste aesthetic seemed to lack the playful, scatterbrained nature that it'd previously had. This two-part live document from 2009 is also very serious-minded but I'm liking it MUCH more, maybe because my expectations have shifted a little bit since.. Or maybe I'm just more in the mood for zoning out to some pure, mind-warping sound today? Their collective ability to come up with strikingly original tones and juxtapositions is pretty staggering to be fair. It's usually reasonably clear who's taking the lead but it's also totally obvious that they've got a slick group dynamic worked right out and love pushing each other ever further into uncharted sonic territory, be it some distorted flotation tank shit, some bleepy space station shit or some other of the myriad other types of shit that don't have such ready-made similes to describe them. Some stunning stuff going on here!

Part Two of two seperately released live albums from Fenn O'Berg, featuring recordings taken from their 2009 Japanese tour. That's it.
