D.I.W.S.W.T.T.D by Serena Maneesh

Stereolab are on hiatus now but that hasn't prevented them from remixing this track by Scando shoegaze gods Serena-Maneesh. I think their re-jig of D.I.W.S.W.T.T.D. is quite pretty in a happy, up-tempo lolloping Stereolab kinda way. It doesn't do anything remarkable but is reasonably dinky & leaves you feeling happy & in the mood for wearing pastel coloured art-deco dresses and smoking Gitanes. I prefer the more percussive Melchior mix with its periodic bursts of warp & decay - it sounds like they've spent more time on it & the vocals fit 100% whereas there seems something a little dashed-off about the 'Lab's version...maybe it's just me? I had three hours sleep last night due to this anti-smoking medication called Champix I've been necking so my head's a bit of a fuzzy shell today. Turn over for the insane deconstructed techno/disco makeover by Lindstrom. The pitched-up church bell vibe is quite fabulous, chiming away like nobody's business for a few minutes, the cool bassline funks happily along and all manner of other disorientating madness is thrown merrily into the mix including inexplicable stuttering electronic kick drums. It soon morphs into a pumping, strutting disco monster though - there cannot surely be much resemblance to the original but who gives a fuck when there's this much cosmic fun to be had?

Serena-Maneesh continue to tour their album release from earlier this year, S-M 2: Abyss In B Minor, and are announcing a series of limited 12" releases.

Starting with a three track remix EP for 4AD, each release in this series will be artworked in collaboration with three of Norway's real up and coming visual artists; Andreas Tellefsen, Sverre Wilhelm Malling and Christer Karlstad.

This first release will be available on 12" and as a download in October and comes with three remixes of album tracks courtesy of Stereolab, Melchior and Lindstrøm.

Tracklisting:

A1. D.I.W.S.W.T.T.D. (Stereolab Mix)

A2. Dressed In White She Walks Through The Door (Melchior Mix)

AA. Ayisha Abyss (Lindstrøm Mix)
