JP, Chrissie & The Fairground Boys – probably the most important and thrilling unknown band in 2010. Involved in the project: Chrissie Hynde -initiator and main songwriter of the cult band The Pretenders. Chrissie is one of the biggest female Rock icons of the last 30 years. Hynde has met her match in JP Jones. The 31-year-old musician. Jones and Chrissie met each other in November 2008 in London while he was working on his solo career after his band Grace split. The Fairground Boys are Patrick Murdoch on guitar, Sam Swallow on piano and keyboards, Vezio Bacci on bass and Geoff Holroyde on drums. On “Fidelity!”, amid a backdrop of acoustic guitar-driven Rock and Folk with Blues and Country underpinnings (Moby Grape’s first album providing a great deal of textural inspiration), Hynde and Jones unfurl their story, both singing lead, trading verses, and wrapping their contrasting voices around one another so naturally, it’s as if they’ve been singing together for much longer than a year.
